Arrrgh! It’s a Pirate Birthday Party, Matey!

Happy International Talk Like a Pirate Day!!! This morning my son was frustrated with me getting ready for school. He said “Arrrgh – MO-OM!” I laughed and said “Oh, you already knew it was International Talk Like a Pirate Day!” With two boys, we love pirate stuff here. And because it’s a pirate day, I thought it would be fun to share the birthday party we did for my now 6 1/2 year old when he turned 5.

The Invitations:

Pirate Birthday Party from www.loveandlaundry.com

We ordered these from Oriental Trading. You could easily make your own with labels and a bottle.

The Decorations:

The Games:

When the kids came, there were pirate hats for them to decorate so they could dress up like pirates.

We played pin the treasure on the map.

And had great fun playing Pirate, Pirate, Captain (Duck, Duck, Goose – I love that game! It works for almost any party!)

I mentioned on Facebook a couple of weeks ago that I’m now working with the Cub Scouts as the Advancement Chairman. My church is a big supporter of Boy Scouts and all of the Cub and Boy Scout leadership positions are given as callings or assignments. My first Pack Meeting was last month and we had the Raingutter Regatta. So, of course, we had to have a Pirate theme to go with it! One of the things we did was assign all of the boys a pirate name. When they received their award, we called them up with their pirate name. These are the Pirate Name Tags I made:

  1. Such cute ideas. My mom just last night mentioned that she still wants to do a pirate party for Destructo's birthday. She wanted that for his first birthday, but I vetoed and got a Kentucky Derby birthday theme.
